Apple Tarte Tatin

Caramelized apples, buttery puff pastry, served warm.

Ingredients

  • 6 apples (firm, peeled)
  • 120 g sugarSubstitute: caster sugar or light brown sugar
  • 60 g butterSubstitute: olive oil or plant butter
  • 1 puff pastry sheet

Instructions

  1. Caramelize sugar and butter in an oven-safe pan.
  2. Arrange apples; cover with pastry, tucking edges.
  3. Bake 200u00b0C for 30u201335 min until golden.
  4. Rest 5 min, invert onto plate.

Use firm apples that hold shape. If the caramel looks too dark before baking, lower the heat immediately.
